| Passing US No. 200 sieve, % | ≤50.0 | GB/T 5005 15.5 |
| Viscosity, 1% XG in 1% KCl solution, mPa·s | ≥1200 | GB 1886.41 |
| pH, 1% aqueous xanthan solution | 6.0–8.0 | Manufacturer’s standard |
| Shearing ratio | ≥6.5 | GB 1886.41 |
| Loss on drying, % | ≤13.0 | GB 1886.41 |

| Qualitative starch determination | Absent | GB/T 5005 15.2 |
| Qualitative guar determination | Absent | GB/T 5005 15.3 |
| Dispersion test | No lumps | Manufacturer’s standard |
| Viscometer reading at 600 rpm | ≥70.0 | GB/T 5005 15.6 |
| Viscometer reading at 300 rpm | ≥55.0 | GB/T 5005 15.6 |
| Viscometer reading at 200 rpm | ≥45.0 | GB/T 5005 15.6 |
| Viscometer reading at 100 rpm | ≥35.0 | GB/T 5005 15.6 |
| Viscometer reading at 6 rpm | ≥18.0 | GB/T 5005 15.6 |
| Viscometer reading at 3 rpm | ≥16.0 | GB/T 5005 15.6 |
| Viscosity at 1.5 r/min, mPa·s | ≥1950 | GB/T 5005 15.7 |
The 600–3 rpm entries are viscometer readings. The 1.5 r/min entry is a viscosity measurement in mPa·s. Keep those measurements separate when comparing an offer, and use matching solution preparation, temperature and instrument settings.
For cuttings transport and suspension, compare the low-speed readings alongside the rest of the flow profile. Xanthan gum develops higher effective viscosity at low shear and lower effective viscosity as shear increases during circulation. This shear-thinning behaviour supports carrying capacity in the annulus while allowing the fluid to flow through the drillstring and bit.
The grade’s sieve limits are at least 95% passing US No. 40 and no more than 50% passing US No. 200. Use these actual limits, together with the dispersion requirement, when reviewing powder handling on your mixing equipment. A particle-size designation alone does not define the required low-shear rheology.
For a formulation trial, use your actual makeup water or brine and record salt composition, hardness, pH, temperature and mixing conditions. Include those conditions when comparing the trial with a purchasing specification.
Bergano supplies the product in 25 kg bags with a shelf life of 2 years. State any pallet, packing-material or shipment requirements with the quantity and destination so they can be included in the quotation.
Request the current batch COA and safety data with your enquiry. If your purchase specification names an API standard, provide the exact document, edition and acceptance limits, together with the required test conditions.
Send your grade requirement, quantity, destination, required delivery date and test specification to Bergano Chemical. Include any sample or additional document requirements in the same enquiry.
