Sodium Metabisulfite
Sodium metabisulfite is used as an antioxidant in oral, injectable and topical preparations. It is mainly used in acidic preparations, but sodium sulfite works better in alkaline preparations. Sodium metabisulfite also has some antibacterial activity, with the strongest activity under acidic conditions. It can also be used as a preservative in oral preparations such as syrups.

In medicine, it can be used for the synthesis of API. Taurine can be produced by the 2-step reaction of cool and sulfonation with ethanolamine, sulfuric acid and sodium sulfite as the main raw materials, and then separated by hydrochloric acid and alcohol extraction.
